Kate Connell, one half of Book & Wheel, is a sculptor, installation artist, curator and jeweler. In addition to placekeeping collaborations with Oscar Melara, her studio practice is in  sculpture. She’s especially interested in small works  that can be held and worn, most recently, as earrings. She’s worked with erasers, ear plugs, gum wood for carving and eggshells to represent fragility. Kate founded the Library Exhibition program at City College of San Francisco which she directed for twenty years. She’s currently writing found poetry with lines from  Nextdoor.com posts, their original intention subverted in poems made to celebrate Southeast San Francisco. Some of her poems appear on the back of the earring prints below.
