Sarah A. Smith: “One evening, at dusk, leaving my studio, I saw a coyote trotting up the middle of Seminole Street heading north to Delano. With the freeway on-ramps right there, the buses, trains, and the busy speedway of Geneva I wondered if it would survive. Seeing the coyote against the backdrop of houses in that part of The Excelsior/Outer Mission jolted in me an awareness of wild nature still thriving within The City. Even though I worried about it getting hit by a car, still, I felt hopeful.”
