Keith Ferris: “As long as I can remember I have always been drawing and painting. When I was in the fourth grade a visiting art teacher came to my school, gave us tempera paints and asked us to paint landscapes on the side of corrugated cardboard sheets. Form was suggested as much by the painted area as what was left out. This was a revelation to me at the time. And this equal importance of positive and negative space has stayed with me.”
